CONCRETE REPAIR
As mentioned on the home page, concrete repair is another highly requested service. You might need a repair when leveling just won't cut it anymore. If cracks need repairs, you have a few options that could work depending on the damage.
The most straightforward technique is called clean and fill. We will clean out the crack and fill it with different repair materials. Depending on the location and severity of the damage, we can use other viscous materials. The advantage of this method is being cheap.
Rout and Seal/Fill is the most common procedure. This procedure is a nonstructural repair that adds the step of routing. Routing is enlarging the existing crack to make it easier for the mixture to adhere to the new sides. The repair materials used in this method are epoxies, urethanes, silicones, polyureas, and polymer mortars. The more flexible the sealants will tolerate crack growth better, but load-bearing capacity decreases and vice versa.
Epoxy Injection is in repairs where strength is needed. This repair injects epoxy into more narrow cracks. The tensile strength of epoxy makes it a perfect choice for structural repairs. However, it is essential to remember that the strength can't ever be restored to its original level or fix construction errors. Epoxy is strong but needs skilled contractors like our Bellaire Concrete contractors to fix it correctly.
Polyurethane resins seal narrow, wet cracks. The primary use of PU is to stop water leaks. This reactive resin is injected into cracks, combines with water, and forms an expanding gel sealing the crack. The benefit of polyurethane is its flexible nature once cured. PU makes a good option for active cracks that have the potential to grow.
Autogenous healing is done by adding cement into the cracks and adding water. This process takes much longer than the other methods but creates a more homogenous bond.
We will recommend the best option for repairing cracks in your concrete. However, the most important thing to remember is to call the pros at our concrete company before a minor crack becomes a major problem.
CONCRETE STAIN
Staining is a popular way to add beauty to a hard-wearing material. Concrete is an easily maintainable material, so add a new look to it. Concrete has become a good option for homeowners and business owners alike. They make both great indoor and outdoor options. Similar materials with the same durability are prohibitively expensive. Staining concrete is different than wood staining because the concrete stain is formed from a chemical reaction. The fun part is usually, with acid-based stains, you'll get unpredictable results.
